Specialists for the Online Shop

Currently, the first new E-Commerce Management Assistants are in training; the new profession was launched in August 2018. The focus of the training is on how to successfully offer and sell products and services on the Internet.

“It's finally here,” says Bianca Nottebohm, Training Manager & Managing Director at VanDeBord, in a Main Echo expert interview about the new profession. "We've been waiting for it for a long time." Last year, VanDeBord hired Alexander Kessler as the first trainee in E-Commerce Management.

E-Commerce specialists have a bright future, and the profession has potential. Of course, online experts also need to learn traditional commercial tasks. At VanDeBord, they are responsible for managing the online presence as well as all other e-commerce marketplaces, such as Amazon and eBay. By the way, the vocational school is located in Karlstadt and classes take place in week-long blocks.

What do you learn in the training to become an E-Commerce Management Assistant at VanDeBord?

Among other things, it’s about how to set up, manage, advertise, and continuously develop an online shop. Aspects such as communication with customers and external service providers, for instance, an advertising agency, and the handling of contracts are also taught. Logistics processes must also be organized and controlled, and broad commercial tasks await future trainees.

What is the salary during the training to become an E-Commerce Management Assistant at VanDeBord?

At VanDeBord, future E-Commerce specialists earn above average even during their training. The training allowance is € 850 in the first year of training, € 950 in the second year, and € 1050 in the third year.

VanDeBord Trainer Bianca Nottebohm

»Our trainee Alex has integrated superbly and is highly motivated. Among other tasks, he is currently managing products in the online shop and will independently oversee areas of VanDeBord on online marketplaces in the future. Since the collaboration works so well, we will train another E-Commerce Management Assistant starting in September 2021. The profession is not only future-oriented but has enormous potential. This is already evidenced by the development of online sales figures in recent years.«

»I've had an exciting year behind me. The teachers at the vocational school are motivated and committed, and I'm very happy with my company, VanDeBord. I feel well taken care of and respected in the team and have already been able to gain experience in various areas and processes. What I find exciting about e-commerce is the number of points at which optimizations can be made to be successful. You have to stay flexible, and that's challenging, but that's exactly why it's also fun!"«
